Establishment of the Japan Electricity ISAC
We hereby announce that as of March 28, 2017, Japan Electricity Information Sharing and Analysis Center ("JE-ISAC") has been established as an organization to share and analyze information related to cyber security among the Electricity Utilities.
Recently, threats of cyber-attacks are rising throughout society. There has been an incidence overseas due to a cyber-attack, and the threat is approaching to the electricity industry in Japan. Electricity Utilities have been planning measures and holding drills in the past. However, in view of the current situation and considering that cyber-attacks will become even more sophisticated and shrewd in the future, it is essential to organize a framework that allows the operators to share information about threats and analysis results, enabling them to implement appropriate and timely countermeasures.
JE-ISAC is an organization that was established under such awareness. It aims to prevent accidents and respond quickly to accidents in case they occur by allowing the electricity utilities, who play critical roles in providing a stable electricity supply, to share and analyze information related to cyber security based on the spirit of helping and trusting each other.
JE-ISAC aims to promote information sharing by not only focusing on the interaction among the members, but also by collaborating with foreign institutions of similar nature.
We are determined to face the threat of cyber-attacks that are becoming more sophisticated and shrewd every day, so that the electricity operators can keep contributing in providing a stable power supply.
